EBRA objectives
- To promote understanding of the benefits to human and animal health and welfare that have resulted from the use of animals in biological and medical research and testing.
- To promote understanding of the importance of high standards of laboratory animal welfare.
- To promote the best practice in animal research and high standards of care of laboratory animals.
- To promote laws, regulations and controls on animal research and testing that balance the requirements to use animals in science and technology with the welfare of those animals.
- To offer advice and assistance to members of the Association on any matter connected with the use of animals in research.
EBRA main activities
- Producing an email Bulletin about the use of animals in medical research and testing, the activities of campaigning groups and relevant legislative matters in individual countries and throughout the European Union.
- Assisting individual and corporate members across Europe to promote a balanced and accurate representation of animal research in their national press.
- Ensuring that accurate and relevant information about animal research is available to European politicians and officials.
- Ensuring that the views of animal researchers are properly represented to European politicians and officials.
EBRA membership
Membership of EBRA is open to any person in the medical, scientific, veterinary or associated profession, living or working in a member or special guest country of the Council of Europe, who agrees with its objectives and agrees to abide by the Constitution of the Association, subject to approval.
The annual subscription for Individual Membership is currently €50 per annum.
